米国 Yahoo! の Zimbra 買収の発表から3日が過ぎた。思えばYahoo!, Zimbraの買収交渉が進められているであろう（推測です）先週、僕はシリコンバレー San Mateo の Zimbra オフィスの目と鼻の先である Infoteria USA に訪問していたのは、ちょっとした因縁を感じる。

この間、Zimbra およびその日本語版である feedpath Zebra を知る多くの方々から、直接あるいは Email にてフィードパスの今後のビジネス展開について心配を頂いた。Zimbraは今回の買収のZimbra利用ユーザーおよびパートナーへの影響に関して継続してサービスを続けていくことを公式にQ&Aにて表明している。

Q. Will Zimbra customers be affected by the acquisition?
    A. No. Yahoo! and Zimbra remain committed to the existing product, on-premise software, ISP partners and markets. Together with its partners, Zimbra will continue to serve service providers, educational institutions, government, non-profits and businesses.

その発表の反響はWorld Wideに達しており、Zimbra の公式ブログにおいても CEO の Satish のエントリー「Yahoo! Acquires Zimbra」に対して多くのコメントが寄せられている。

Satish は17日 1:00 PM（米国時間）ブログエントリーで「今回のYahoo!, Zimbra 2社のコンビネーションは、我々のマーケット、顧客、パートナー、および私たちのコミュニティーに対してコミットメントを高めて、それぞれのリーダーシップ拡大させるでしょう。」と結んでおり、さらにZimbra Collaboration Suiteはよりマーケットを拡大していくことを示唆している。

また、翌日18日、Zimbra Developer Relations/Evangilism 担当の John Holder のブログエントリーでは、「Business as Usual」（いつもどおりの仕事）と題して「次期メジャーバージョンの Zimbra 5.0 は11月リリースを目指しており、マイナーバージョンのZimbra 4.5.7は早ければ今週リリースされるだろう」とアナウンスしており、まさに開発チームは平常のタスクを淡々とこなして入るようである。

Zimbra 5.0 is still on track for November and we will still be providing source and binaries for current and future releases. Zimbra 4.5.7 should be out as early as this week.
